Galleri Format is delighted to start off our 2023 exhibition programme with What shall I do with this body they gave me an exhibition by Gothenburg based duo Emma & Conti.
Through photography, video and installation, Emma & Conti presents a new body of work site-specifically conceived for Galleri Format. What shall I do with this body they gave me is a narrative inspired by the archaeological heritage of Sardinia, Italy, that expands over a broader reflection upon memory, fragmentation, migration of cultural material and burials.
Emma & Conti are a Gothenburg-based duo consisting of Emma Sandström (1986, Sweden) and Stefano Conti (1994, Italy). They hold a Master’s degree in Photography from HDK-Valand, 2020. In their practice, they work with sculptural and photographic installations that revolve around the concept of materiality, the perception of objects and their relationship to human history. Emma & Conti create collective and personal narratives inspired by cultural heritage, archives and the ephemeral. Recently, they have exhibited at Atelier NOUA (Bodø, NO, 2022), Northern Photographic Centre (Oulu, FI, 2022), Cultural Center Il Ghetto (Cagliari, IT, 2022), Museum of World Cultures (Genova, IT, 2021), Konstepidemin (Gothenburg, 2021).
